Franchise Opportunity – Questions To Ask The Franchisor – #40

Finding The Right Franchise

Whether it’s hamburgers, pizza, telecom, coffee, Internet, muffler parts, or seniors’ services, there are Franchise opportunities available to evaluate. There are great Franchise systems, good Franchise systems, and bad Franchise systems. The challenge is to ask the right questions to find the right system that will fit your goals and dreams. The key is to ask the questions – and listen closely to the responses. Only then can you determine if the Franchise opportunity is the right fit for you. So whether it’s food services like burgers or coffee, professional services like telecom or IT, or manual services like cleaning or oil changes, ask the questions and record the answers.

Responsiveness

This one is fairly simple but very important. If the Franchisor responds to your inquiries quickly and efficiently, it’s probably a good indicator of the type of responsiveness the company executes as a whole. Of course, that becomes very important when you require support once you become a Franchisee.

If a Franchisor takes several days to get back to you after your initial inquiry, you should take that as a warning sign. If they don’t respond in an efficient and professional manner to your email and telephone inquiries as you go through the process, it probably means they are not running a tight ship.

A system that responds almost immediately, and then starts you on a step-by-step information flow, including personal contact, should be what you are looking for in terms of responsiveness.

You may also want to consider the use of various media in the response system. In certain types of businesses this may not be as important as others. The use of email Internet, video, webinars, and those types of technologies in delivering information to you will carry a different level of importance if it’s a retail business versus a professional services Franchise.
