‘Everyone’s going to be together’: Mayor Scott, business leaders and squeegee workers hold meeting to develop solutions

BALTIMORE — Mayor Brandon Scott on Thursday convened a meeting of business enterprise homeowners, city leaders and squeegee workers, hoping to locate solutions for the window washers.

Scott reported squeegee staff have been an concern for many years, but what is new this time is that all the stakeholders are coming to the desk. 

“This is about Baltimore –Baltimore failing to tackle this concern, from a government standpoint, from a business enterprise standpoint, group standpoint, everybody has unsuccessful to deal with this situation,” he claimed.

Town Councilman Kristerfer Burnett, who was in the meeting, explained about 50 folks, including some squeegee staff, have been present and attendees reviewed transitioning window washers into work opportunities and how to preserve both of those youthful people today and motorists secure.

Meetings will be held weekly heading forward.

Scott mentioned stakeholders will maintain a dialogue with squeegee personnel “about why they were being out there, what comes about when they go out there, what aspects led to them remaining out there.”

The mayor’s push conference arrived on the very same day Baltimore law enforcement announced a 15-calendar year-previous experienced been charged in the death of Timothy Reynolds, the 48-year-old man killed previous week in a confrontation with squeegee staff near Baltimore’s Internal Harbor.
