10 killed in cloudburst near Amarnath shrine

At minimum 10 individuals have been killed when a cloudburst close to the holy cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas activated flash floods Friday evening that also ruined 25 tents and three neighborhood kitchens, police officers explained.

3 persons have been rescued, they claimed.

The cloudburst struck all over 5.30 pm amid large rainfall, they reported.

10 individuals had been killed in the incident even as police, army and NDRF personnel launched a rescue operation, the officers mentioned.

Shah said in a Tweet in Hindi that he has spoken to J&K LG Manoj Sinha to acquire inventory of the situation.

“NDRF, CRPF, BSF and community administration are engaged in the rescue work. Preserving people’s lives is our precedence. I want all the devotees well,” the minister said.

Sinha said he is carefully monitoring the problem and instructed all anxious to supply vital help to the pilgrims.
